A blend of science fiction, romance, and mystery, the Anime film INTERLUDE is based on a popular Japanese video game. The plot and theme are similar to virtual reality films such as THE MATRIX and EXISTENZ, calling into question the nature of reality and the reliability of one's senses. Mutsuki and her brother live a happy, largely untroubled existence. However, the brother begins to have bizarre, seemingly prophetic dreams and witnesses inexplicable events. At the center of the strange happenings is Aya, whose alluring nature starts to draw Mutsuki's brother away from her. But as he grows closer to Aya, he doubts more and more of the world around him, until its very essence seems suspect.
