Norse mythology forms the basis of this mystery anime series based on Sakura Kinoshita`s hit manga MYTHICAL DETECTIVE LOKI RAGNAROK. Directed by Hiroshi Watanabe (SLAYERS, ORPHEN) and animated by the acclaimed Studio DEEN (GETBACKERS, COWBOY BEBOP), the anime centers on the Norse trickster god, Loki, who has been stripped of his powers, trapped inside the body of a child, and banished to live among humans by none other than the king of gods himself, Odin. With the help of his faithful manservant, Yamino, and a mystery-obsessed teenaged schoolgirl, Mayura, the pintsized Loki runs an earthly detective agency specializing in paranormal cases a la THE X-FILES--all the while searching for the meaning of his own exile and dodging the vengeful gods that Odin has dispatched to kill him. Rendered in a muted palette perfectly suited to its moody subject matter, the mystery anime unfolds at a leisurely but suspenseful pace that emphasizes atmosphere over action.
