Set in Japan, circa 1969, GATEKEEPERS finds unconventional guerilla tactics being used by an unknown group of soldiers, known only as the Invaders, who are apparently trying to slow Japan's recovery from WWII. Unfortunately, these guerillas seem to be impervious to traditional means of fighting, panicking many army and government officials. However, soon a new type of hero is discovered among the teenage population of Japan who call themselves the Gate Keepers. Endowed with the ability to open gates to other dimensions, these teenage heroes are Japan's only hope for defeating the guerilla menace.

Based on the popular computer/PlayStation game of the same name, the ARC THE LAD anime focuses on Elk, Arc's occasional ally. Elk's town had been attacked by a group of marauders early in his life, and now, hoping for revenge on the band of thieves that killed his family, Elk searches for the crew of the Silver Noah, the ship that carried the attackers. When he runs into Arc, the current owner of the ship, he mistakes him for an enemy, but when he finds out the truth, he tries to recruit Arc to help him exact his revenge. In these final episodes, the Chimeras wreak havoc on the planet as the Lords of Darkness begin their offensive against the Champion of Spirits. It is up to the crew of the Silver Noah to stop them, though both Elk and Arc face personal challenges that could prevent them from leading the crew to victory.
