The genre-bending anime series Burst Angel blends sci-fi, action, comedy, and even a touch of spaghetti Western into a thrilling girls-with-guns confection. In futuristic Tokyo, a new law that allows citizens to openly carry guns has actually led to an increase in crime, and a shadowy organization known as RAPT (Recent Armed Police of Tokyo) actively encourages violence in order to profit from the chaos. This fantasy adventure from director Koichi Chigira takes place in a futuristic world where the skies are populated by technologically advanced 1940s style fighter planes. Piloting one of these planes are Claus and Lavie, who have just accepted a mission to take a mysterious girl named Alvis to the battle ship Silvana. Soon, the two find themselves in the middle of war between two countries being fought in the sky. In this edition, Claus and Lavie take part in a long-distance vanship race. Dio Eraclea joins them, and tries to make friends with Claus, as does Tatiana, who operates under a secret mission directed by Alex Row. While the other race, Alex Row tries to procure the Exile Door at an underground auction, but must withdraw when confronted by the Guild.
