Like a testosterone-laden version of AZUMANGA DAIOH, the quirky comedy anime series CROMARTIE HIGH SCHOOL chronicles the rough-and-tumble hijinks at a school for male juvenile delinquents. The series centers around Takashi Kamiyama, a normal 16-year-old with average grades who somehow ends up at the infamous academy and is forced to navigate its brutal social hierarchy of juvies, outlaws, bullies, and thugs--as well as a 400-pound gorilla, a robot who thinks he`s human, and a Freddie Mercury wannabe. Based on a hugely popular manga, CROMARTIE HIGH SCHOOL parodies the world of boy-school anime with meta style, tongue-in-cheek humor, and plenty of references to the operatic rock band Queen. The Hellsing Organization is a supernatural collective dedicated to protecting mankind from a war that rages in the Earth`s shadows in which humanity is only a pawn. Together with Arucard, a rogue vampire, they fight a race of super vampires threatening to take over the world. In these episodes, the Organization is taking a beating at the hands of the undead, forcing Arucard to once again confront Paladin Alexander. Based on a manga by Renjuro Kindaichi, the comedy anime series HARE+GUU fashions a charming metaphor for sibling rivalry. The series focuses on 10-year-old Hare, who lives with his loving single mother, Weda, in an idyllic jungle village. But Hare`s peaceful life is shattered when his mother adopts a little orphan girl named Guu, whose sweet exterior conceals a dark, malevolent soul bent on torturing her new older brother. Director Noriuki Abe`s horror anime series, GHOST STORIES, receives a creatively zany English-language dub that transforms it from a run-of-the-mill kids` show into a slyly subversive comedy with adult appeal. The basic plot centers on a precocious fifth-grader who stumbles upon a haunted schoolhouse and attempts to exorcise its evil spirits with the help of an odd assortment of preteen ghostbusters. While the English dub stays true to this basic storyline, the actual script is abandoned in favor of ad-libbed dialogue that delivers risqui, adult-oriented comedy performed by the expert vocal talents of Chris Patton, Hilary Haag, Christine Auten, Greg Ayres, Illich Guardiola, Monica Rial, and Rob Mungle. This volume continues the series with episodes 9 through 12.
